Brian Kaskavalciyan is no stranger to hard work; by 15 years old he had already worked in a restaurant, as a paperboy and as a caddy at the prestigious Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.
At 15, he witnessed firsthand how downsizing, mergers, and layoffs in corporate America affected people and their families when the company his father worked for (for almost 20 years), was sold. He was lucky; he was offered a position with the new company, but it meant having to move his family from northern California to southern California.
But it didn’t last; within 2 years the company shut the office down and his then 54-year old father was out of work. It was this experience that planted the seeds of entrepreneurship in Brian.
He worked his way through high school then college by first working in a restaurant (starting as a dishwasher) and then working for a construction company as a commissioned sales person/designer.
After college, he went looking for his first business and found it in a carpet-dyeing franchise. He didn’t have very much money but was able to make a deal with the franchisor and use a credit card to finance the business. The first year, Brian did everything from cleaning and dyeing carpet to accounting and sales. He quickly learned that the only way to make any real money was to focus on building the business and he did just that. His first step was to stop cleaning carpet and focus on sales and marketing. As a result, over the next 2 years his franchise became the largest on the west coast.
While in the carpet business, the franchisor created a bathtub-refinishing concept. Brian was intrigued and purchased the rights for his market. In less than 3 years – without ever refinishing a bathtub himself – not only was he the largest in the chain (of over 150), but he was one of the highest-priced and most-profitable providers in the country. As a result, the business was sold for a significant profit.
In 1999, he was approached by a handyman about partnering up in a handyman business. In early 2000 Brian and his partner began a local handyman business, and in less than one year that little local business was generating over $1,000,000 in revenue.
With the success of the concept and Brian’s marketing and franchising experience, he decided the time was right to franchise his own brand. In 2002 he developed the infrastructure and systems to turn that local business into a national franchise company. Over the next few years he built the company to over 30 franchisee-owned offices around the U.S. and Canada… plus 3 of their own offices. Being the ever-restless entrepreneur, Brian sold the company in early 2007 to focus on his real love of marketing.
Today, Brian is involved in a number of businesses, but his real passion is helping business owners of all kinds improve their profits and company value by focusing on effective marketing and profit development strategies. From start-ups to $50 million dollar enterprises, Brian has worked with and advised business owners in nearly two dozen different industries including mortgage, chiropractic, auto repair, restaurant, home improvement, health care, internet, consulting, coaching, retail and fitness training. He has also worked with professional practices such as accountants, lawyers and doctors.
His company – g|Four Marketing Group Inc. – provides strategic marketing products and services designed to build his clients’ profitability and business value, while increasing their free time and quality of life.
Brian lives in Miami, Florida and is happily married (to Adi), and has 2 children (Sophie and Lena).
